‘Fat Blasting’ Workouts Don’t Exist

TRY MY FAT BLASTING WORKOUT🤪🤪🤪

…….just kidding 😌

A lot of my time with clients is spent re-examining the messaging they’ve received through their peers, family, or social media. You’re not silly for thinking that these things exist, it’s literally how things are marketed toward us🥲 You are one quick Pinterest search away from a bunch of workouts that promise fat blasting in 30 days or less. It just doesn’t work like that.

Will you automatically lose fat if you do a fat blasting workout? No, decreasing overall body fat has much more to do with your *overall* caloric intake and expenditure. How much energy are you taking in throughout the day, and how much are you utilizing?

Yes, you should be doing some kind of cardio (no matter what your goals are). Cardio has many more benefits than just burning calories (are we ready for THAT conversation??? lol).

Current exercise guidelines suggest 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity (or combination of the 2), with at least 2 days of resistance training. Spread it out throughout the week. Some is better than none. Work toward that.

No, you don’t need to do a ‘fat blasting’ workout. If changing your body composition is your goal, your time is likely better spent building some muscle by lifting and eating enough food, and then potentially spending some time in a slight caloric deficit lifting and doing whatever kind of cardio you enjoy. It doesn’t need to be 13 different moves slapped in a circuit and falsely advertised as “HIIT” or “fat blasting”.

Social media is all about marketing, but the stuff that actually works isn’t really that sexy. Yeah the stuff that works is basic…but it actually works. 😼
